BURKE, INC. CERTIFIED BY THE WOMEN’S BUSINESS ENTERPRISE NATIONAL COUNCIL
Burke, Inc. is pleased to announce its certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s leading third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women.
The WBENC standard of certification implemented by the Women’s Business Enterprise Council Ohio River Valley is a meticulous process that includes an in-depth review of the business and a site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm that a business is at least 51% owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or women, and that the business has the appropriate structure and strategic business planning in place.
Founded by Alberta Burke in 1931, Burke has a long history of valuing, supporting, and promoting women to management and leadership positions. In addition, as an employee-owned company, Burke has had a majority ownership among women for many years.
“We are delighted to be recognized and certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise,” said Diane Surette, President & CEO. “As an organization, we actively and intentionally strive to be diverse in our thought and action so that we can better serve our clients and the populations that we research. This certification underscores our commitment to DEI and is in line with the same commitment we see from our clients in the development of their partner diversity programs, which ultimately drive the creation and production of products and services that reflect a diverse perspective and population.”
WBENC Certification is one of many certifications Burke has attained, including ISO 20252 Market, Opinion and Social Research Quality certification; ISO/ICE 27001 Information Security Management Systems certification; and LEED® Gold certification for the company’s corporate headquarters.
