BURKE INC. NAMES NEW PRESIDENT AND CEO
Ron Tatham retiring after 28 years
Michael Baumgardner takes over CEO position


CINCINNATI - Burke Inc., an international leader in marketing research and decision support services, has named president Michael Baumgardner as president and CEO. Current CEO Ron Tatham is retiring after 28 years with the company. The management change will be effective October 1, 2004, the end of Burke's fiscal year.

"Ron has been a tremendous mentor and guide for me," said Michael Baumgardner, president of Burke. "I plan to stay the course he has set and continue to implement the strategic plan. We're extremely optimistic about the future and confident in our leadership position in the marketing research industry."

Baumgardner, a teacher, speaker and author on social psychology, has been with Burke since 1979. His responsibilities included teaching for The Burke Institute and serving as director of consulting and analytical services before becoming president in 1994. He has presented marketing research topics to a number of trade organizations and has authored articles for prestigious psychology publications. He serves on the Board of Directors of Burke Inc. and on the Board of Burke Employees Company.

"After 28 great years at Burke, this is a big decision for me and my family," said Ron Tatham, retiring CEO, Burke. "It is hard for me to leave a job that I have enjoyed so much, but I want to have more time for my family and to slow down the pace of my life."

Tatham will be available in a consulting relationship with Burke for the next five years and will continue to conduct seminars in marketing research for The Burke Institute.

Tatham, an author, professor and consultant, has been prominent in the marketing research industry and is widely recognized for his academic career. Prior to joining Burke, he was a professor on the Graduate Business Faculty of Arizona State University and also taught at the University of Cincinnati and Kent State University. He is coauthor of Multivariate Data Analysis. He has served on the Marketing Research Advisory Board at The University of Georgia, the MSMR Advisory Board at the University of Texas at Arlington and the A. C. Nielsen Center - University of Wisconsin External Advisory Board. Tatham also is active in several professional organizations and has presented over 200 seminars and papers before professional groups.
